We’re all Emotional Creatures, every one of us! So says Steve Thorne, who believes this is part of our being in travelling along our own path through life. This is the basis of Steve’s stunning debut album EMOTIONAL CREATURES : PART ONE. It draws on all manner of subjects taken from the world at large and particularly observations of life, a rich tapestry of which to delve into. No subject is taboo and is frequently tackled head on, typifying Steve’s take on life. Steve Thorne, the Hampshire based singer / songwriter and performing artist has created this work, which is a combination of well crafted songs and complex, thought provoking and stimulating lyrical content. It all started with Sandheads (the last track on EMOTIONAL CREATURES : PART TWO), which portrays the end of a long journey. Sandheads acted as his starting point from which he worked his way back through the journey to the very beginning. As he began to write, the material flowed freely allowing him to create enough material for two albums. Many of the tracks on EMOTIONAL CREATURES : PART ONE are related to individual journeys as well as those of society at large. Although this is Steve’s first commercially available release, his reputation is such that he has managed to attract a star-studded array of guest musicians to play on this album, including: Nick D’Virgilio (Spock’s Beard, Genesis, Tears For Fears), Tony Levin (King Crimson, Peter Gabriel, Liquid Tension) who contributed bass and Chapman Stick, Geoff Downes (Asia, Buggles, YES) and members of both IQ and Jadis. It’s also worth noting that Steve himself played the majority of the instruments you’ll hear on EMOTIONAL CREATURES : PART ONE. The final ‘package’ is the result of a great deal of time and effort on Steve’s part but is, without question, well worth the wait. The music contained on the album is fresh, appealing to many different people and crosses over all sorts of musical styles, including Prog-Rock undertones, Folk, Indie, Guitar Rock and even some Alternative and Indie influences are to be found. EMOTIONAL CREATURES : PART ONE is released through Giant Electric Pea (GEP) and will be in the shops from 25th April 2005. The
